Dr. Martin is a native of Evansville. He attended Harwood Grade School and Central High School. After graduating from Central in 1984, he enlisted in the Army and served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne for four years.
Upon completing his enlistment, Dr. Martin entered Indiana University, Bloomington, in 1988. After only three years as an undergrad at IU, Dr. Martin was selected for early admission to IU's School of Dentistry in Indianapolis. He graduated with honors in 1994 and re-entered active duty in the Army as a general dentist. Dr. Martin served as an Army dentist for three years at Fort Lewis, Washington.
In 1997, Dr. Martin was selected to attend the Tri-Service Orthodontic Residency Program (TORP), in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating with high honors in 1999, he served as the orthodontist for NATO headquarters in Mons, Belgium. In 2002, Dr. Martin left active duty and returned home to Evansville to begin private practice. He later retired from the US Army Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel after 20 years of active and reserve duty.
As an orthodontist, Dr. Martin has given lectures in: Italy, Belgium, Germany, Texas, and Indiana. He was also an instructor for orthodontic lab courses at the University of Texas's Dental School in San Antonio. Dr. Martin believes that is very important to be a "student for life". He works diligently to stay up to date with the latest advancements in the specialty of orthodontics in order to provide his patients with the best orthodontic care.
Dr. Martin, his wife Tracy, and their three children live on the North side of Evansville. The entire family is active in their church and community. Dr. Martin is a member of the Evansville Rotary Club, serving as Rotary ambassador to both Harwood and Thompkins Middle Schools. He has also coached his daughters' northside soccer team Dr. Martin often helps Tracy with her activities as a Girl Scout leader. In his free time Dr. Martin enjoys fishing with his children, biking, golfing, and traveling with his family.
